A$AP Rocky came into the game marching to the beat of his own drum, so it comes as no surprise when he steps outside of the box musically. Fans got their first listen to A$AP’s eclectic soundscapes with “Wild for the Night,” a daring collaboration with EDM maestro Skrillex. This time out, the Harlemite delivers a surprising collab with Florence + the Machince’s Florence Welch, “I Come Apart,” which, despite what earlier album leaks may reveal, will in fact be featured on his much-anticipated major-label debut, Long.Live.A$AP.

There was no blueprint that ASAP Rocky followed to break through into the business, having signed a major-label deal with Sony before even dropping his debut mixtape.

Two songs, a bit of hustle and some luck is all it took for Rakim Mayers to turn his penchant for spitting Syrup-drenched raps and his knack for fashion into a full-fledged business. Now he is an inductee into MTV Jams’ Fab 5 of 2012 class.

ASAP Rocky Vows To Lay Off The Cristal On Long.Live.A$AP

Seales then pressed Rocky on why, if there’s to be no more brand talk, he has a song about Cristal Champagne on his new record. Rocky reminded her that Cristal became a running joke in the rap world after the brand’s managing director Frédéric Rouzaud made racist comments to The Economist about the hip-hop world’s embrace of his product back in 2006.
