ASAP Rocky kicks off his new LongLiveA$AP tour Friday (September 21), where he will make his case for the hardest working rapper on the road. The tour, which will include Schoolboy Q, Danny Brown and his A$AP Mob crew, will hit 47 markets in just 60 days.

The Harlem-bred rapper, who is also nominated for six BET Hip-Hop Awards, recently explained his live show philosophy.

“I love the crowd,” he told CBS Local. “That’s what gets me going. That’s where I get all the energy from. I just have to get them in tune with what I’m doing.”

A$AP recently opened the VMA Awards along with Rihanna, for his guest verse on Ri-Ri’s “Cockiness (Love It).” He shocked the crowd when he openly squeezed the pop stars butt on stage. It was one of the more memorable moments of the night.

“It really wasn’t no idea,” he told CBS Local. “It just happened.”

He said there was no major blowback from it and he downplayed the notion that it was a “moment” at all.

‘”I thought it was just one of those moments,” he said. “I didn’t know everyone was really talking about it.”

While he was at the VMAs, he explained to Hot 93.7 how he has collected such a diverse crowd that comes to see him perform.

“I grew up with Asian friends, black friends, white friends and Latin friends,” he said. “It’s not one ethnic crowd. I am talking to an era, a generation. I am not just talking to one class of people.”
